Konnichiwa!
Another great week in Taniyama with the best trainer ever! We has transfers on Thursday but I am staying in Taniyama with Capener Shimai for another 6 weeks. I'm excited and can't believe its already been one transfer! I guess I'll start off talking about Mayu San. We had a good member present lesson with her about tithing and faith. We are trying to help her keep her commitments, especially coming to church. She was going to come yesterday, but then cancelled right before. She is a student teacher, so that's why she is so busy. Since she didn't come to church, we had to reschedule her baptismal date. We are praying for her and her faith to continue to strengthen!
Oh, I gave a talk in church yesterday! 7 minutes of straight Japanese! I had a piece of paper with me so that helped a little.... I talked about the blessings of missionary work and I felt the spirit so strongly! I started crying and my contacts got all blurry so I couldn't read anything that I had written on the piece of paper, so the Spirit was definitely helping me out! The gift of tongues is a real thing!
After church we had an AB (after baptism) lesson with Yamashita and Yukina Chan. We talked about family history and a branch member is helping them with familysearch.org so that's pretty cool.
We visited Hasegawa San this week. She is in her 70's and is like an eternal investigator- has been taught by missionaries forever but has no desire to come to church. I don't know why she doesn't want to come to church because in the lesson she said that everything we were teaching her was so interesting and cool. we taught her the plan of salvation and talked about how her family can be together forever! she thought that was amazing. i asked her if she's ever thought about the purpose of life and she said no. how sad is that? a 70 year old lady that hasn't ever thought about her purpose or why she is on this earth. we testified to her and she committed to pray and ask God what her purpose in life is.
Oh, by the way, I had a bike wreck this week! I felt like an idiot but here's how it went.... It was dark and we were going really fast on the sidewalk and there weren't many streetlights. before i knew it, a roped fence popped up in front of me and i was flying through the air! my bike flipped over the ropes and i landed flat on my stomach. I have a huge rope burn on my leg and my elbows are banged up. i also have big bruises all over my body. people on the streets probably think capener shimai beats me up or something! good thing i was wearing my helmet because i hit my head on the concrete. im okay and i was able to ride home completely fine. i was a little sore the next day but im completely fine now! so yeah that was quite the experience!
This week we set a goal to find two solid investigators. We worked really hard, had lots of contacts and potential investigators, but just couldn't get anyone to commit to an appointment! I prayed all week for a miracle and yesterday God answered my prayer! We were out working after church and ran into a lady on the street. I introduced who we were and she said that she had met the missionaries before, when she was in college. She used to go to Eikaiwa and thats where she had met the missonaries before.! She said she knew it wasn't a coincidence that she ran into the missionaries again. We told her of course it wasnt a coincidence! God sent us to find her! We are meeting with her on Friday!
We also went back to visit a potential investigator that we found last week through housing. It was a family and they had received a Book of Mormon from missionaries before but hadn't read any of it. We shared a short scripture and asked if we could come back and they said yes! On the last day of the week, we found our 2 new investigators! The Lord answers our prayers!
I love being a missionary so much! There's nothing better than sharing this gospel with everyone we meet each each day. I love telling people on the streets that there is a God, and that He is their loving Heavenly Father. We meet a lot of people who haven't even heard of God or Jesus Christ before. Bearing testimony of them brings the Spirit so strongly, no matter where we are. This gospel is so true! I love Japan and the people here! They are amazing and I love them so much! Hope you all have a good week! Love you!
Love,
Klein Shimai
