08/24/2014 Letter

Hello!

This week went by so quickly! And so many exciting things happened, including our investigators passing their baptismal interviews!!! But i'll get to that in a second...
First off, last Pday we ate at sushi roll, and it was so good! and awesome! you go in and order on a little screen at your table and then your sushi comes to you on a conveyor belt! i'm a wimp at sushi but i tried some stuff and i didnt barf! my favorite was the salmon :) i also liked the tempura crab, but thats not even raw so it doesnt really count haha. each plate you grab off the conveyor belt is 100 yen, so the people just count up your plates and that how you pay! we ate so much it was insane. but so worth it!
On Tuesday we had District Meeting in Sendai which is like two hours away (not the big Sendai its a small city), so we took the train. it was my first train ride in Nihon! We talked about charity and read the conference talk "Lessons From Liberty Jail" by Elder Holland. its so good! In Sendai there is a senior couple and they gave us shimai a 4 pound tub of peanut butter! we have been in heaven this week!
We did some housing this week with Akira, a branch member who is working on her mission papers, so that was fun! We also weeded the branch president's yard for like 2 hours. We had so much fun talking as we weeded!
We had splits again this week so I was with Herrmann Shimai and we got to teach Mayu lesson 3! Herrmann Shimai is just a 4th transfer so we were praying a lot for the Gift of Tongues and for the Spirit to be in our lesson. The Lord answers our prayers! We were able to say everything we needed to say and i talked for about half the lesson, which was a surprise. Mayu said she understood everything, so that was a miracle. The Spirit was really strong and I know Heavenly Father was helping us during that lesson! After her lesson we street contacted around Kagoshima College and met a lot of nice college girls and handed out some Books of Mormon.
So Yamashita and Ukina chan had their baptismal interview and they passed! They went really well and are so excited to be baptized on Saturday!!! We practiced the interview beforehand with them and the Spirit was really strong. Simple doctrine is so powerful!
We had an appointment with a new investigator, but she didn't show, so that was a bummer. The other day Capener Shimai and I got up a little early and ran to a shrine for our exercise! I love running with her and am lucky to be with a companion that likes running. On Saturday we went to a summer festival with Yamashita and Ukina! It was so fun and there were tons of good fireworks. The train ride there was crazy packed, like i was touched on all sides by people, we were like sardines! There was a member that lives near the festival and she insisted on dressing me and Capener Shimai up in kimonos! She also did our hair and kept saying we looked like dolls haha. we got so many looks at the festival haha. we were foreigners, wearing kimonos, with nametags. by now im pretty much used to being the only foreigner anywhere we go, besides the other missionaries.
Yesterday we called a less active sister and she is going to let us meet with her this week! She hasn't let missionaries in the past come over, so hopefully it's her time now!
I love this gospel so much! Our weeks are full of testimony building experiences. I love this work and I know that my Savior lives! Love you all!
