Another great week in Taniyama!
So this week the volcano, Sakurajima, exploded like a million times so there was so much ash in the air it was crazy! We woke up the other day and it looked like it snowed, except it was ash. Everything was coated with like a centimeter of ash. Our bike tires made tracks in the streets and people were dusting off their windshields. We also got to wear facemasks so that was fun!
Capener Shimai was sick this week and one day we were out working and then it starting POURING. It was cold and we had to get home to eat dinner and it just wasn't the best situation. So...we prayed for the rain to stop and it did! We were able to get all the way home dry and safely-and Capener Shimai didn't get more sick! That was a cool miracle.
So the Yamashita family is doing great! The mom finally got a calling in our branch, she works with the Sunday School and she gave a talk yesterday in church. She told us that she prays every day that her husband and other children will eventually want to come to church and get baptized like she and Yukina did. so we are all praying that they will want to learn more. keep their family in your prayers! we had an FHE on Saturday and we had 11 nonmembers come, which was great! we shared a message and played ping pong and ate lots of delicious food. and guess what? the whole Yamashita family came! their car only seats 3 and their whole family is 6 people so Ryo kyodai went all the way to their house to pick the 3 boys up-he is a saint!
Mayu's student teaching thing finally ended so we were able to meet with her yesterday. She also came to church which was amazing. We set another baptismal date and its gonna happen! and Ryo Kyodai might baptize her! (hes the less active that weve been working with that isnt less active anymore and now hes the young mens president!)
So in Japan all the member kids get the lessons from the missionaries before they get baptized, which i think is really cool. We are going to teach a 7 year old girl and help her prepare for her baptism coming up in November!
I love Taniyama so much! The branch members are amazing and there's always lot of work to be done. The church is true!
Love, Klein Shimai
