08/30/2015 - Typhoon, Chocolate & Miracles

こんにちは!

Another crazy week in wonderful Fukuoka. There was a typhoon on Tuesday, so we had to stay inside until 6pm which wasn't too fun. But, we finished entering our area book into the iPad, which was nice to finally finish! The typhoon wasn't too bad, just some really strong winds.

Sayaka chan and Tomoko chan both came to church yesterday and are both progressing really well towards baptism. Atsuko on the other hand, told us that she will not stop drinking tea and that she wants to stop meeting with us. It was a big bummer and let down, but we are not giving up on her. We are still gonna show her our love by writing her letters and stuff and just letting her know that we are here for her.

We went to Maebaru so Chapman Shimai and I could go on splits with the sisters there. I got to work with Komatsu Shimai, and it was really nice dendoing with a Nihonjin again. They really testify from their heart and have such a sweet spirit about them. We taught a first lesson to a new investigator and then found a college girl on the street and taught a 20 min. lesson to her right there on the street.  We learned a ton about faith.

On Saturday, we got to help with a service project in a big park near Hakata train station. It's a park where a lot of the homeless hang out and we fed them lunch! TONS of rice was passed out. A pot as tall as Carey Shimai was just filled with rice and we made them little onigiris and stuff. When I passed them out, I made everyone smile before I would give it to them ... haha. It was way humbling and the guy that runs the lunch every month is homeless himself!  What an amazing example!

Yesterday we had a first lesson with the Tokitsu family, who we found housing on Tuesday. We had a super good joint, a young dad who is an RM in the ward. The Tokitsu family has two young kids and then the mom and dad. We taught about God and the dad prayed at the end and said he wants to pray again that night to really know for sure whether or not God is there. The Spirit was so strong and I KNOW he felt it. At the very end of the lesson, the wife gave us a really harsh kekko and said that we couldn't come back. We were super surprised and couldn't believe it, because we know that the husband felt something really good. I really could picture him in white and as a future Young Men's President in the Ward. Anyway, we were really down about that and we going to return home to eat dinner, since we hadn't had time to eat since right after church. We were riding home and I was praying so hard for a miracle. I didn't want to go home on a Sunday night being disappointed. We were hungry but one certain girl caught my eye and so we stopped her.  I had high hopes and just thought okay this is it! We are going to teach her a lesson and she is going to become a new investigator. Well, the Lord blessed us and we didn't go home disappointed. We taught a 20 min. lesson right there and made an appointment for Wednesday. She said it was a coincidence that we met right then, because she is going back to college next week. It was such a cool miracle that I will never forget. When we sacrifice everything for this work and give it everything we've got, that is when the amazing experiences come. I am so grateful and feel like we are on cloud nine right now. The church is true!!!!!

My faith has been growing every single day. Just seeing how our investigators are changing is such a cool experience. Only the true gospel can do that. I am so grateful for my mission. I know that God lives and that He is aware of us all individually. He is our Father. I know that as we pray to Him and pour our hearts out to Him, He will be there ready to help us. I love this gospel! Have a great week!
