08/02/2015 E-mail: Boy Scout Jamboree and another baptismal date

Hello!

We had a great week here in Fukuoka! We had a fun time at the Boy Scout Jamboree, helping all the scouts from all around the world get to were they needed to go. There were scouts from Mexico, Istanbul, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Germany, Bangladesh, England, etc, etc. It was a good opportunity to talk to lots of people about what we do here in Japan. I was talking to one of the fellow volunteers, a mother of a Nihonjin scout, and she ended up having quite a bit of interest. I gave her a Book of Mormon and we taught our first lesson to her and her husband yesterday at the church!!! It was a really good lesson and we will be teaching them again next week. They have some interest, so we hope everything goes well with them. It was so cool because the husband prayed in the lesson and the Spirit was so strong. I could definitely see them being a strong addition to the Fukuoka Ward.

We went to Yahata this week on Thursday, so that I could go on splits with Packard Shimai. It was really fun and we were able to exceed all the goals we set for the junkai. We also found Megumi san, who had lots of interest and sat down on a bench with us right then! We had a 15 minute lesson with her. I learned a lot from Packard Shimai, she is an incredible missionary and one of the hardest workers I know!

We got to visit Higa Kyoudai and read from the Book of Mormon with him. His English is way good, even though he is 77 years old. We had a mini English lesson too and he is so good I couldn't believe it! We were talking about tongue twisters and he could say "Sally sells sea shells by the seashore" way fast! He is so cute!

All of our investigators are doing well and we made a baptismal date with a girl we met last week. Her name is Sayaka chan, like our other investigator with a baptismal date. Yes it's pretty confusing sometimes ...haha. She has such a strong desire to follow God and be happy and be baptized. We found out she is also meeting with Jehovah's Witnesses.

A scripture our District Leader shared with us in District Meeting this week was 1 Corinthians 15:10 and I loved it!  "But by the grace of God am what am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

It is the grace of God that makes us who we are today! Through the grace of Jesus Christ, we can become those better people we strive to be. I am so grateful for the divine help we have from Jesus Christ so readily available to us. All we need to do is ask, because He is there waiting to help us! I know He lives!

Love you all!
Klein Shimai
