Hello! This week was crazy! So I had to say goodbye to Chapman Shimai, which was really hard! She will be going to Iwakuni in the Yamaguchi Zone. There is a military base there, so I told her to enjoy the American food!
On Thursday, I picked up my new companion straight from the MTC, Lowe Shimai! She is from Lombard, Illinois, is 19, and is such an awesome missionary. I love her personality and we get along really well! She loves to work and has lots of confidence with her Japanese, which will help her SO much. She is so willing to try new things and is such a good example to me. Kaicho sent me the best bean chan!
On Friday, we had a little FHE with the Yamamoto family and talked to their little son about baptism. He is 8 but doesn't want to get baptized until his birthday, which is in August. We are trying to help him realize the sooner the better haha!
I absolutely loved General Conference. All my questions were answered and I felt like so many of the talks were specifically for some of our investigators. I really loved Elder Clayton's talk about choosing to believe and of course President Uchtdorf's talk about grace. It was so good and was a direct answer to one of my questions. I also loved Elder Wilford Anderson's talk relating the gospel to music. That is so true for our investigators!
We had two lessons with Mari this week and she is just so amazing! We asked her if she was scared of death at all or where she thinks we go after this life and she said, 'Well based on what i just read in the Book of Mormon, we return to Heavenly Fathers presence and are judged." We were like haha gosh you could teach us this lesson! It is amazing to see her take control of her own conversion and really strengthen her knowledge and testimony through reading the Book of Mormon daily. When she said she wants to go to the celestial kingdom, we asked her one thing she thinks she should do now know to help her get there. She said she thinks she needs to receive baptism! We love her so much and she is changing so much! In the lesson I shared Alma 40:23, one of my favorite scriptures about the resurrection. She felt the Spirit so strongly and began to cry! We love Mari!
Lowe Shimai and I have already seen lots of success since she got here 3 days ago! On Saturday night, we came back from general conference and had 20 minutes left before 9pm. We decided to go house this one area by our apartment, and met a really neat lady that had lots of interest about eikaiwa. Always work till 9pm because it's always worth it!
Last night, we didn't have enough time to go to the place we originally planned to go to, so we prayed on the street and asked where we should house in order to find the new investigator that we wanted to find. We saw an apartment and felt good about it, so we started to house there. After three floors of straight kekkos, we prayed again and asked the Lord if He would have us stay there or if we should go to a different apartment altogether. After we prayed, we looked up and saw an apartment across the way and felt really good about the 2nd and 4th floors. We had no success on the 2nd floor and then prayed again before we housed the 4th floor. Well, on the 4th floor we met Kaere chan. She is 15 and had lots of interest about the Book of Mormon. She became the new investigator that we were searching for last night! This was such a strong testimony builder to me of PRAYING AT DECISION POINTS and praying lots throughout dendou. Also, talking as a companionship about where we should go. It was actually Lowe shimai that suggested the 4th floor. Bean power is real!!!
We had a great week and my testimony was strenghtened in so many ways. I know this gospel is true and I know that this is the Lord's work. I know that through humility, I can recognize my weaknesses and become the missionary that the Lord wants me to be. I love this gospel and know it is true. I know President Monson is a living prophet on the earth today. What a blessing it is to have the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today. The church is true!
Love you all,
Klein Shimai
