Hello! I hope everyone had a great Easter! I hope General Conference was good; can't wait to watch it this weekend! Okay BIG NEWS- Chapman Shimai will be transferring, and I will be getting a [bean chan] - a missionary fresh from the MTC! I will be training for these next two transfers here in Nagasaki! I am so excited/nervous/I dont even know! I feel lots of pressure cause I'll be her first comp and I'll have a big effect on her first impressions of Japan! I don't find out who she is until tomorrow night, and then she will come to Nagasaki on Thursday. So, if you want to pray that she will feel peace and comfort these next few weeks, that would be awesome! Yesterday I went to Fukuoka to go to a training meeting for all the trainers. I am just so excited for the power and missionary fire that she will have coming from the MTC! Oh, I will also still be an STL, so these next transfers are going to be way fun and busy.
Last pday we went to Tateyama Park and looked at all the beautiful cherry blossoms!!! It was so pretty and I think I took like 500 pictures haha. It rained a lot here so they were really only in bloom for like 3 days.... gotta wait another 51 weeks!
This week when we were housing we met a super cute old couple that was Catholic. The husband was a conductor of a church choir, so we sang some hymns with them. It was so fun and the Sprirt was so strong. We sang God Be With You Till We Meet Again in English and they sang in Japanese. The Spirit was so powerful - I have such a strong testimony of the power of music. I wish I was more musically talented haha. When we were singing that hymn I just thought about how much I love the japanese people and how I never want to leave, and then, of course, I started crying. Maybe that hymn isn't the best to sing as a missionary.....
Akane and Haruna weren't home when we went back for their return appointment. Sometimes it's easy to get frustrated when you find with the Spirit and still can't find solid investigators that actually show up to the next lesson. But the Lord always has a plan and we just can't give up! No effort is ever wasted!
Mari san is progressing so well! She even asked to move her baptismal date up a day! It was so cute- her mom has cancer treatments every Saturday and that is when we had her date- for a saturday. She is so shy and asked, "Could we maybe like change it to a Friday so that my mom can come to my baptism?" And we were like "OF COURSE!" She is so shy and kind and I can just see the Spirit changing her. She even said in our last lesson that she feels like she is changing! And she reads the Book of Mormon 3 times a week with her parents, but we wanted her to get in the habit of reading it on her own every day, and she is keeping the commitments we gave her. We read a chapter a day with her and then she texts us questions that she has. It's really fun! We are in 1 Nephi 11. Just since we started the lessons until now, she has really opened up and come out of her shell. She just seems so much happier and has such a sweet countenance to her. I love Mari!!!!
I cannot wait to watch Conference; I'm thinking of some questions that I want to ponder while I watch it.
I know this Church is true! I had such an amazing Easter and I am so grateful for the Atonement. I know that Jesus Christ is always there for us and that He knows us each individually. He is our Savior and Redeemer!
Have a great week and please pray for my new companion! Love you all!
Klein Shimai
