Hello everybody! This week was great! It started off with going to Sakurajima on P-day! It was cool to finally actually go to the volcano that we see everyday. We took a ferry over and there were some really cool foot baths that were super hot; it felt really nice though on our sore calves!
We had an amazing joint lesson with our new investigator, Shizuka San. She is a young divorced mom with two kids. Our member joint is also a young divorced mom with two kids so it was great that they got to meet. We really planned for her lesson with the Spirit and decided to invite her to be baptized, even though it was only the second lesson. We weren't going to originally, we were going to wait till the 3rd lesson, but we just felt like she was ready. When we asked her if she'd want to be baptized when she came to know that these things were true, she said yes! She said she wants to change and that she feels like us coming to her is her second chance to start over. How amazing is that?!! She is an amazing investigator! Her kids are always running around crazy when we teach so we have to move at a really slow pace and review a lot with her, but she keeps all the commitments- she is great! It's great to have a member present there to add her testimony to ours and entertain the kids when we talk with the mom haha. The kids are 7 and 5 and get so excited every time we come 'cause were American. Its hilarious! Our date right now for her baptism is November 29th. We are really excited! Im excited to keep working with her and to help her progress.
So my trainer, Capener Shimai, leaves on Thursday morning... Im going to miss her SO much. She is an amazing missionary and we have grown so close these past two transfers. She is such a great example of a missionary who knows how to work hard, and work effectively. I will definitely be writing her for the rest of my mission!!!
Sunday was District Conference and I sat with some of our branch members kids to help keep them quiet. I taught them how to make an origami box and they were so amazed! It was really funny. Then I had to make about 6 more for every single kid haha. It was really cute- Japanese kids are seriously the cutest!!!
So Mayu... we had a great lesson with her the other day. We followed up about her concerns about baptism and she said she was fine and doesnt have any more concerns. But then when we mentioned that she should choose a new baptismal date, she just like shut down. We have a lesson tonight with her and were going to focus on Book of Mormon. She knows it is true, so we just need to help her realize that is all she needs. If you have a testimony of the Book of Mormon, then everything else is true. Please pray for Mayu and that she will realize that baptism is for her and that she doesn't have to know everything before she gets baptized- just have faith!!!
Yamshita San is amazing. She's been a member for like a month and a half and she's already joining with the missionaries for lessons. She rode her bike like 6 miles to join one of our lessons! She is seriously so amazing and I can't wait for her to go through the temple in August! We are trying to teach the rest of her family.. She brought two of her sons to District Conference and they really liked it. They are super busy with school and sports. so we are working really hard to teach them all together. She committed to teach her family FHE every week, though. She is so great and her testimony is so strong!
That's all for this week! We get transfer calls later today! I better stay in Taniyama! I love it here and I can't leave Mayu or Shizuka!!!!
I know this church is true with all my heart! I'm seeing it change peoples' lives every day. I've seen Yamshita before and after baptism and now she literally has a glow around her every day. This gospel really does change lives and I'm so blessed to be sharing it with others. I know this gospel is true! Love you all!
