So general conference... we go to Kagoshima next weekend on Saturday and Sunday to watch all 4 sessions in english im so excited!
On Tuesday we had District Meeting and my district leader said something really cool, `How many other 18-23 or whatever year olds can say they talk with and work with God every day?` That just hit me- this mission experience truly is such a privilege. I've already seen so many cool things and I've only been out since May 28th. Cant wait to see what other miracles the Lord has in store for the people of Fukuoka Japan!
On Wednesday we visited a potential investigator that we found a while ago and have tried to visit like 2 times since. Her name is Shizuka San, and she is a young divorced mom with two children. We developed a good relationship with her and shared a short message about families and God. And then she became a new investigator! We set up an appointment with her for yesterday, Sunday. It was set up for 2:30, after church, except a typhoon came yesterday, and it was POURING. We needed to get to this lesson, especially since it was the first lesson with a new investigator. We had our rain suits on, and it wasn't really windy yet at all, so we went anyway. She lives up a gigantic hill, so we had some fun riding- we were super hot because of our rain suits, soaking wet from the rain, thighs burning from the hill. haha it was quite the experience. But we got to her house and had an amazing lesson. We began with a prayer, and that really brought the Spirit right away. We talked more about her image of God and talked more about families and Jesus Christ. We gave her a Book of Mormon and committed her to read the intro, so pray that she will keep her commitment! She has the potential to be an amazing investigator!
Right after we found her on Wednesday, we turned the corner and found a school girl that goes to a catholic school, which is pretty rare. we took advantage of the fact that she knew who God was, and told her about the Book of Mormon and restoration of the gospel. She also became a new investigator! We were gonna meet with her again yesterday at a park, but she didn't show up because of the typhoon; can't blame her i guess.
So Mayu San- Everything was going perfectly for her baptism on the 18th of this month, but the other night we got a whole bunch of texts from her that said she is not ready to be baptized on that day. We gave her the interview questions just to look over, and she said she has a problem with one of them. We were way bummed, but so glad that she told us now, instead of getting baptized when she wasn't ready and then going inactive. She still wants to take the lessons and be baptized, just when she feels ready. We are meeting with her this week just to figure out her concerns and show our love! Please pray for her!
Random funny thing- the other day we were on a trolley and this crazy old grandpa came on and sat across from me and capener shimai. As soon as he saw us, he wouldn't stop staring and was talking to us really loudly across the trolley. It was hilarious and I couldnt keep from laughing. I had to stand up to go to the front of the trolley, and when I stood up he said, `Oki, na!` which basically means `wowww youre big! (tall ;) ) It was hilarious! That's what I get for being 5 feet 9 inches....
So every week we roleplay lessons, to Yuka Shimai, a less active. She is learning english, so we roleplay in english first, and then in Japanese- which is actually really helpful. At the end of the lesson, she asked us to teach her how to pray in english, so that was really cool to teach! Then she said the closing prayer in english-it was so cute! probably similar to what I sound like when I pray in japanese haha. She is so nice and loves to serve, but she says she can't come to church because her mom is anti (against the church). So, we are trying to get her a calling to help with our Branch's upcoming halloween party.
Yamashita and Yukina Chan are doing really well! They are awesome and really help each other out! In our after-baptism lesson this week Yamashita said that her husband brought home some caffeinated green tea ice cream from the store. He didn't know it was against the Word of Wisdom because he never took the lessons or anything. Yamashita told us that it looked really good and so she ate some... but then Yukina told her to repent! haha I love them- they are so amazing and are so strong. They've only been members for like a month and their testimonies are so solid.
Well, that's about it for this week! Looking forward to another great week in Taniyama! Im so grateful to be here and to be teaching the true gospel! I know this is the true church! Love you all!
