Konnichiwa!
This week I went to Chikushino to go on splits with Shibayama Shimai.
She is so cute and really a Christ-like missionary. She is so calm and
reverent in her actions, never loud or sarcastic. A super good example
to me. Chikushino isn't as city as Fukuoka at all and I'm so thankful
to be in an area with so many people to talk to all the time!
Jo San got the chicken pox so were weren't able to have dinner with
him and the elders, but we are rescheduling it and are going to drop a
note off at his apartment tonight.
Tomoko San is progressing well towards baptism. We are teaching lesson
5 this week and then her interview will be next week. Please pray she
will be baptized with no problems.
Sayaka chan- so she called us two weeks before her baptism and dropped
us. Said she doesn't want to be baptized anymore and that she doesn't
want us to visit and will be blocking her number so we can't call her.
We were of course devastated, because we had taught her lessons 1-4 and
we know she had felt the Spirit. She even testified to us that she
had. She did block her number so we have no contact with her. It's
just crazy cause she went from being so good to dropping us literally
overnight. It's a huge bummer but I know we did all we could've done
to help her. Kaicho really helped us out and said it's just a little
bump in the road and to not let it affect us. That's true because this
week we were truly blessed in so many other ways.
We met a super cool tall guy last night named Kaz. He goes to America
a ton for business and has a super deep voice. He has some random
pieces of quartz in his house that he gave to us; he's super cool! We
gave him a Book of Mormon and made a return appointment. He said he
wants to read it so we will see how far he is when we go back!
Yesterday we were housing and found a pomegranate tree so we
complimented the old grandma on her tree and then she gave us some
pomegranates- sweet! They are pretty good, too! We went to that
American style diner this week for dinner and it was soooo good. I
hadn't had a hamburger in a good while. Haha why are missionaries
always so obsessed with food?
We finally had our first real lesson with Sakura and Kotone Sato. We
taught them about the restoration and Kotone chan said she wants to be
baptized once she understands more, which is great! They are super
busy though, and can only meet like 2 times a month.... They are super
sweet and said they believe everything we taught was true. The Spirt
was in the lesson and I'm so grateful for that!
I had a cool experience in Sacrament Meeting on Sunday. I paid close
attention to the sign language translators this week in Sacrament
Meeting. It started with a woman translator and when when it came time
for the blessing of the Sacrament, the translator changed to a
Priesthood holder in a nice white shirt and tie. He was able to sign
the Sacrament prayers to the deaf sister in front of him. The Priests
waited patiently until he had finished translating before they passed
it to the Deacons to then to the congregation. I just appreciate the Priesthood
so much! It's amazing that we have the power of God on the earth
today. I also love how our church cares for all of its sheep. They
made sure everyone had the opportunity to partake of the sacrament by
the proper authority no matter what language it was in. I know this
church is true. Have a fun week!
Love you!
